All quiet on the Monday front

While markets are closed in the U.S., the futures are trading (negatively). The European markets (that are open) are down. Electronic markets for oil, natural gas and gold are also trading to the downside.

Bank of Canada Day

It’s Bank of Canada day. After the Reserve Bank of Australia two nights ago did not move the AUD rose. Our CAD rose on the GDP numbers yesterday which looked strong on the surface but were less so underneath.

Look out! The Fed will raise rates

He says monetary policy has done what it could, and that it actually makes sense for rates to rise as mortgage demand in Japan, Europe, and the U.S. has not actually seen an increase since rates have remained low.

The bulls are running

Today’s line-up at BNN has some interesting interviews including the CEO of Twitch (recently purchased by Amazon for just under $1 billion), a look at the new BMW electric car, the i3, which is turning eyes and dollars away from Tesla, and designer Vince Camuto, the co-founder of Nine West, on the shoe business. Speaking of shoes, Michael Kors will be a stock to watch as investors react to the secondary offering of 11.6 million shares held by an insider as director resignations. The stock is down 5%. The Gap is also down 6% on weak same store sales.

The beginning of a correction? Nope
