Not every one likes to have a drink on the 2-4 weekend.
A lot of us like to garden, get together with friends, open the cottage/cabin, relax.
But, a little beverage can sometimes add a little to a sunny day.
Today, after all the Facebook melodrama, (the trading delay, the weak pop, the trade back to IPO price, etc.) a toast to Mark Zuckerberg and a wetting of the whistle certainly seemed in order.
We were lucky enough today to be joined by Nick Keukenmeester, one of our favourite guests, from the Lifford Wine Agency.
He gave us his best picks for a long weekend (or anytime).
We didn't start with, but could have, his best tasting (and as it happens best value) within the Champagne category.
I don't like champagne generally, but I do like this one. Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne NV ($46.35 per bottle) is one of the most popular Champagnes on earth according to Keukenmeester. In fact, it has been served at the White House since 1978.
What a way to celebrate a great day in the markets. Or just a great day!
Nick also introduced us to a lovely white - Shingleback Haycutters Sauvignon Blanc Semillion 2011.
As he describes it -- "a classic blend of both Australian and Bordeaux dry white wines". Lovely.
Finally, for those who love a little red, he has suggestions including Hahn Pinot Noir Monerey 2010, Castelgiocondo Brunello Di Montalcino 2006 and Felton Road Cornish Point Pinor Noir 2010.
For someone who doesn't like reds, the Felton Road was beautiful.
Have a nice weekend.
