The head of one of Canada’s largest trucking firms warns the high-flying loonie is leading to shrinking exports to the U.S.
Contrans Group CEO Stan Dunford tells BNN there’s no question the volume of products that move from Canada to the U.S. is directly tied to the dollar. “Every penny that the dollar is up, there’s that much less freight, that much less product being sold in the U.S,” Dunford says.
Dunford also has a muted outlook for the economy, saying he’s not sure there will be a “break out” over the next few years.
“We’re not seeing any improvement in the economy of any significant amount,” he says.
