Robert Pavlik, Chief Market Strategist at Banyan Partners, tells BNN corporate profits will be the big driver of equity markets in early 2012.

Pavlik believes the market can move higher -- as long as a negative earnings announcement doesn't arise from a big multinational firm.

"People are expecting a pretty good earnings season," he says. "But if we get a big miss -- like Oracle -- then the optimism begins to fade regularly quickly."
