Demand for copper in China is insatiable as it builds its economy the way North America did a hundred years ago, says the head of the U.S.’ only platinum and palladium producer.
Stillwater Mining chairman and CEO Frank McAllister tells BNN developing countries are taking the majority of the copper produced -- with about 40 percent of it heading to China.
“They’re building their economy like we built our economy 100 years ago here in North America …The intensity of use of copper in North America 100 years ago is about what the intensity of use in China today,” he says.
