Peter Fisher, from his perch as head of fixed income at Blackrock, the largest money manager in the world, has an inside look at the direction of the global economy. And in an era where investors have become almost immune to drastic swings in their portfolios -- that insight is golden.
So what comes next for the global economy?
"We're spending the next five years in a low-growth environment," he tells BNN. "Growth can come and go -- we might have a strong quarter here or there…but the world economy is not going to pick up speed that quickly."
Fisher expects the U.S., the world's largest economy, to grow two or three percent going forward.
His advice for investors searching for yield: "In bonds you want to look to corporate [bonds] that are paying a good coupon." He also says investors should consider blue-chip dividend stocks.
