Infrastructure heading into a super cycle: Aecon CEO
The head of Canada’s largest public construction company, Aecon Group, says we’re poised for an infrastructure super cycle.
“We’re in a charmed space right now, and we’re seeing it, we’re seeing it all around us. There are long term plans being made by all of the large international mining companies and oil companies today,” CEO John Beck tells BNN.
Beck says that there are two kinds of infrastructure that are in a super cycle: energy and transportation. He points to major hydro electric projects and transit projects across the country.
But Beck’s only concern about this super cycle is the availability of labour, skilled trades people and those with managerial skills to deal with this demand. "I think the net result of all of that will be if we can’t find all of those human resources, the schedules will just be stretched out.”
