What to expect from a financial advisor

Financial advisors often have a tough time managing clients' expectations. So what should clients expect? BNN Producer Dale Jackson gives some helpful advice on the issue:

As a starting point  investors should expect that a financial advisor will offer unbiased and ongoing advice that is personalized to the client's needs, says Jackson.

The advisor should also help clients manage risk and disclose their fees.

But Jackson says investor-advisor relationship has limits, noting guaranteed returns, exclusive information, mind reading and time travel are not realistic.
