Alberta's vast oil and gas deposits have increasingly thrust the province on to the international stage. And while some of this attention has been negative, Alberta's Premier Alison Redford tells BNN that the province's resources will continue to play a major role in Canada's economy.
"It's not as if North America is going to go off hydro carbons in the next two to five years and what that means is that we have to think about how we're producing these resources in a sustainable way that allows all of us to achieve positive environmental outcomes, while still allowing for economic development," she tells BNN. "We talk about our record and the people in Alberta are as concerned about environmental outcomes as people anywhere else in the world."
"We have always been an economy in Canada that matters an awful a lot to other provinces."
