Smartphones force camera makers to shift focus, cater to ‘selfies’
With the rise of photography on smartphones and tablets, demand for digital cameras is slowing dramatically, forcing camera manufacturers to adapt. That couldn’t have been more apparent when the world’s largest camera maker, Canon, released its second quarter earnings on Thursday, showing a 36-percent decrease in compact camera sales from just one year ago.
