Taco Bell Canada announced Tuesday its plans to start selling beer at select locations beginning in June, as part of a major expansion.

Its flagship store, located at 484 Queen Street West in Toronto, Ont., is expected to be the first Canadian location to introduce alcohol to the menu. Taco Bell says a selection of beer will be offered, with the possibility that more beverage types will be added later.

The food chain also announced plans to expand to 700 Canadian locations from its current 170, with a new design and revamped menus.

It says that after consecutive years of growth, the company is committed to further expansion and a reinvention of their dining experience.

"In the last five years, Taco Bell Canada has experienced tremendous growth, growing at 28 per cent, further cementing us as Canada's number one Mexican-inspired restaurant," said Amanda Clark, general manager of Taco Bell Canada, in a release. "This announcement highlights how committed we are to further growing our business, and how devoted we are to building deeper relationships with our customers and evolving the way they experience our brand."
