Twitter is beefing up its executive team in Canada, with two new hires.

Jennifer Hollett has joined as Twitter Canada’s head of news and government. Hollett is a long-time broadcast TV journalist, whose career included a stop at MuchMusic. She also served as digital director on Olivia Chow’s 2014 campaign for Mayor of Toronto. Hollett fills a void left following the April departure of Steve Ladurantaye, who is now managing editor of digital news at CBC.

Twitter Canada has also hired Laura Pearce as its first head of consumer marketing. Previously, she was vice president of marketing and digital for Blue Ant Media.

“Laura and Jennifer will be key members of the Twitter Canada team as we enter our next chapter,” Twitter Canada head Rory Capern told BNN in a statement.  “Not only do they each bring a dense resume of experience and tons of industry insights, they also each embody the resourcefulness and personality that we look for when adding members to our team.”

Pearce and Hollett begin their new roles today.
