As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau nears his first anniversary in office, he’s getting a lukewarm reception from Canada’s business leaders.

The latest C-Suite Survey reveals nearly half of Canadian executives (45 per cent) say they believe Trudeau’s Liberal government isn’t living up to expectations; just 11 per cent say the Trudeau Liberals are exceeding expectations.

Amid persistent concerns about the country's pipeline infrastructure, the view in Western Canada is even worse: 52 per cent of Western Canadian business leaders say the federal government is falling short of expectations.

There isn’t much confidence in the C-Suite that business conditions will improve. Thirty-one per cent of respondents said the political environment for business will be no different over the next five years, and 38 per cent said political conditions will become worse for Canadian businesses over the next half decade.

The latest quarterly C-Suite Survey of corporate leaders was conducted from Sept. 7 to Oct. 3 and 157 C-level executives participated.
