Air Canada said Monday its website and customer centres were experiencing an “interruption,” while some airports reported the disruption was causing congestion in their terminals.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and are working towards restoring our service as quickly as possible,” Air Canada wrote in a tweet.

The airline tweeted that its systems were back online and that some flight delays were expected as a result shortly after 1 p.m. ET.

"Today’s computer issues have had a wide impact on our customers and we apologize for any inconvenience," Air Canada's president of passenger airlines Benjamin Smith added in the statement.

The outage comes during the March break travel rush.

Earlier on Monday, Vancouver International Airport and Calgary International Airport took to Twitter to inform passengers there were technical issues with Air Canada’s computer systems nationwide that were causing congestion.

As Air Canada customers raised concerns about the situation,Toronto's Pearson International Airport also told customers over Twitter the airline was experiencing IT issues and that it was affecting flight schedules.

The company experienced temporary computer issues two weeks ago that disrupted web and mobile check-ins that delayed boarding on some flights.
