Worries in Asia: From wages to uranium

Andrew McCreath sees no reason to get excited about the People's Bank of China increasing liquidity, since it is only a three-month plan. Most companies in Japan are too small to comply with government encouragement to raise wages; and the cost of electricity and delivering it is on the rise in Japan. As well, McCreath is neutral on uranium since the Japanese public is still largely against its use.

Hold on to your hats

Today’s news will center on the CRTC looking into paper invoice fees, end of month rebalancing (bonds have been the big outperformer on the month and year), low volumes (because of the North American long weekend), QE chatter (what will Mario Draghi do next week), Icelandic volcanic activity, and reaction to the slightly stronger Canadian economic activity (watch the Canadian dollar which has been supported by the inversion trade and possible buying by the bankers helping 3G fund its acquisition of Tim Hortons). BNN will also have stories on Bombardier, Bonterra and balancing bonds.
