The votes are in. Employees across Canada have ranked some of the country’s most prominent CEOs.

Topping this year’s list, released by global recruiter Glassdoor earlier this week, was the chief executive officer of ATB Financial, Dave Mowat, with a 99 per cent approval rating.

“Executive leadership that just gets it,” one employee wrote in a review of Mowat. “Employee engagement is a huge priority and focus. On the journey to do things other banks wouldn't do. It's a pretty amazing company all around. We are lucky to be here.”

Suncor CEO Steve Williams didn’t crack the top 10, despite making the top five in 2015. He ranked 22nd this year with an 87 per cent approval rating.

Another notable CEO absent from this year’s list was Lululemon’s Laurent Potdevin, who was the top-ranked CEO last year, according to Glassdoor. Lululemon’s leadership has recently been criticized by its founder and largest shareholder, Chip Wilson, who says the yogawear retailer isn’t doing enough to outperform its rivals.

Among the highest-ranked leaders in 2016 were Apple’s Tim Cook and TransCanada’s Russell K. Girling.

Glassdoor says its list is devised through an algorithm, which took into account the quantity and consistency of company reviews from employees based in Canada. The rankings were determined by reviews submitted between May 2, 2015 and May 1, 2016. In order for a CEO to be considered, they would have had to receive at least 25 company reviews, with at least 25 CEO approval ratings and at least 25 senior management ratings.
