Is there a renaissance happening in Steeltown?

Hamilton, Ontario is trying to shed its image as a hub of steel manufacturing by attracting new businesses, including a new Maple Leaf Foods plants.

Toronto residents have also discovered the city's housing market, with Hamilton set to get all-day transit service to Toronto by 2015. Mayor Bob Bratina tells BNN the city is working to keep taxes low and bring new people into the city.

"It seems as though our time has come because there is a great deal of interest in our legendary affordability."

Brattina says Hamilton is increasing its commercial and industrial tax base by encouraging brownfield development and offering tax breaks for projects located downtown.
