Music sales are on the decline, forcing artists to rethink how they sell their tunes. BNN's Kristina Partsinevelos caught up with rap star Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson to find out if the album is really dead.
MUSIC STREAMING REPLACES THE DOWNLOAD
Digital-download sales fell for the first time ever last year as people turn to streaming services such as Spotify Ltd., Google Inc.’s YouTube and Pandora Media Inc. to listen to music, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Album sales were down by 14.2 percent and individual song downloads fell by 12.5 percent at the end of last quarter.
HOW RICH IS 50 CENT?
According to Forbes, 50 Cent has an estimated net worth of $140-million US. But the magazine says he owes most of his fortune to the sale of VitaminWater in 2007.
